Rescue - 3 March

Late in the afternoon after regular patrol hours a 14 year old boy was caught in a rip.

His cousin was running around the shacks yelling out for a lifesaver. He was lucky to find Riley (Bronze Medallion holder) who immediately ran to the beach, grabbed an old board from under the boat house and headed out to rescue him.

The beach had been closed all day by the patrol as the surf was quite large with the tide coming in. Riley reached the boy who was in serious trouble, calmed him down and got him on the board and headed back to the beach where Paramedics, Fire and Rescue and SES who assisted him to the clubhouse.    These emergency services had previously arrived in the area following a 000 call for another incident.

Toll Helicopter arrived and transported the patient to an ambulance waiting at Garrawarra Farm carpark.

Well done to Riley a great effort and a great result in difficult conditions, we are all extremely proud of you.
