Being a member
Membership of Burning Palms Surf Life Saving Club is one that is about fun, community service and responsibility. To be a member of Burning Palms, you need to contribute what and when you can in the areas of:
Lifesaving in terms of patrols
Help the club run in terms of working bees, fundraising or administration
Education through instruction of new members in lifesaving techniques
Juniors / Nippers through assisting in surf education
Fulfilling the obligations of being a member through following the rules and joining / renewing your membership.
Active member
In order to become an active member of the club, you need to have a current SLSA Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate qualification.
Members aged 15 and over train for a Bronze Medallion; this 6-8 week course teaches surf skills, resuscitation, rescue techniques and much more. Members aged 13 and 14 learn basic rescue skills in a 6 week course and are awarded a Surf Rescue Certificate.
The Club runs a number of courses throughout the year to train new members.
