Club Surf Sports at its best at Burning Palms

St George Masos continue over 34 years of sponsorship with Burning Palms Surf Life Saving Club.

Junior Life Savers from Yugawara Life Saving Club in Japan visited Burning Palms and stayed overnight at the Clubhouse on Monday 10th January.

Ernest “Solly” Stephens from Wanda co-ordinated and organised the visit (as he has done in the past few years). Before arriving at BP, the group visited some of the Wollongong beaches.

They headed out Tuesday morning walking from BP to Garie. Thanks to Keith Crebert for his assistance in ensuring everything was ready at the Clubhouse for their arrival.

Come and help or join up

I’m sure you have all been training hard for this year’s club championships although I see patrol 4 as a force this year!

This is a reminder that this Sunday we will be holding these events from 11am down at Burning Palms. It would be great to see you all down to support your patrol and the club for a fun day of events.

A BBQ will be held in the afternoon to feed all the hungry competitors. Hope to see you all this weekend.

Regards - Ben Geisker Club Captain

Why not have an Australia Day Pie for lunch?

Burning Palms was pleased to advise that the "Crazy Cats" boat crew has been selected by the ASRL to be a sponsored entry into the Collaroy Young Guns carnival on Sunday 16 Jan. A total of 20 crews have been selected, with all crews receiving special event clothing and their entry fees paid which assists the finances of the club greatly.

Current Competition

Please assist by being proficient prior to the 31st of December.

A whole range of new merchandise has arrived and is now on sale. The new range includes:

  • Tshirts - $30
  • Polo shirts - $30
  • Caps - $15
  • Postage - $10

We also have a range of last season's (but fashionable) beer holders and costumes. The Club is also expecting new swimmers in January - so keep an eye out!

Our boat crews had their first hit-out at carnivals recently.  The Under 23 Male crew (The Dirty Dogs - Mitchel Hogan, Jack Emery, Kelvin Mason, Eric Alvarez, Cliff Gerathy) competed at Mollymook, Eloura and the Garie Dash at Bundeena.  Uni and TAFE have intruded into their ability to get into the boat for training, so they are not yet up to their established performance standard, but the racing was the first stage of getting back there.
