We wish to thank Alex Flower Chief Training Officer and Julie Hodges Committee Person for their time on the Committee they did not seek re-election, their input over the years in their respective areas has contributed greatly to Burning Palms. Well done to both and we have appreciated your involvement and achievements.

We thank those who attended the AGM, we had good numbers and all seemed to enjoy the meeting, the review of the club over the past season and our achievements. A reminder to the Committee the first meeting will be Monday 8th August 2016 7.00pm at the Maso’s.


There are 2 positions that need to be filled.

Club Captain an important position it does require a great deal of time after hours and at Burning Palms on a regular basis. You will be responsible for the operation of Lifesaving within the Club. If you would like a position description of the full roll then let me know and I will forward. For Captain the nomination form can only be moved and seconded by Active, Reserve Active, Long Service or Life Members.

Committee Person 1 - also important this season they will be allocated tasks to do during the season so it will require some computer skills and a good knowledge of Surf Life Saving a position description is also available if you require one contact me. Any members can move and second this nomination.

If nominating you will need to complete the nomination form attached and return to the Secretary PO Box 255 Mortdale 2223, by Friday 5th August 2016.


It is on again the social event of the year where Wayne Vaughan cooks a great baked dinner in his trusty NEW yes NEW Weber this year. Come along a great night to mix with others BYO with a small charge for the food.

The date is Saturday 20th August 2016 at The Club House starting at 6.30pm. No need to RSVP.


The date is Sunday 4th September 2016 at the Beach. Chris will need some assistance with the Gear work day planned 20/21st August 2016 if you are available and coming to Hot August Night it will give you something to do on the Saturday afternoon before a beer and a great meal.


The yearly main fund raiser for the club, the 12km row down the Georges River. If you can lend a hand at the finish line Chris Fogwell would appreciate it with the BBQ get at the St George Sailing Club around 8.30 to assist, the race finishes about 11.00am the date is Saturday 8th October 2016.


We are refurbishing the shed on the beach, rust has taken its toll on the steel and tin and a lot of work needs to be undertaken before the strong winds and big seas take it. Work commences on Sunday 24nd July and will go for the week with a Heli Lift on Wednesday 27th July. If you have a few spare hours, days or a week we can use as many hands as we get.
